CPPD 2007 Schedule and other details
The details for this year’s event are as follows:
September 22, 2007, 11am - 4pm
Westgate Community Centre
Map and transit details are posted on the first blog entry.
Schedule:
11am – 1.30pm – Community Groups – 30 min each; open door, various formats
2pm – Children’s fall harvest celebration – Dancing, mask making, singing and fun!
3pm – Drumming – Bring your drum, voice, favourite noise maker or dance moves and join in!
All day - Pagan Tea Room – The main hall will share the Vendors’ area and a sitting area for people to chat and relax during the day. Coffee and Tea will be available for purchase or bring your own!
The children’s activity table will be running from 11am – 4pm and will include colouring pages, crafts for kids and other fun activities.
Vendors’ Area – This year we are accepting vendors at the door – please arrive by 10am if you would like a table or two at this year’s event. We have vendors already registered who will be selling books, music, handmade items, supplies and more.
Groups and individuals in the community are encouraged to bring information, business cards, etc. and to leave them at the Community Information Table in this year’s vendors’ area. I think this is a lovely way to present the diversity of our community to attendees, as well as allow pagans the opportunity to provide services to or receive services from other pagans.
Admission to the event is free, and everyone, pagan or non-pagan, is welcome to attend. We request those who are able to bring a donation for the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank, in honour of the Harvest season. Calgary Pagan Pride Day strives to contribute not only to the pagan community but to the greater community around us.
This year I have decided to change our format away from formal opening and closing rituals. We will drum and dance some energy into this year’s Food Bank donations in place of a formal closing ritual to finish off the day. There will be no opening ritual simply a welcoming of those present at the start of the day.
Some important venue notes:
The nearest food places are about a 10 minute drive away (at least) and CPPD does not have the resources to provide food at this year’s event, so we encourage attendees to bring themselves snacks, lunches, etc. There will be fridges available for keeping your lunches cool until you are ready to eat them.
If you would like to volunteer to help set-up, please arrive around before 10am, (I will have keys by roughly 9am), if you would like to volunteer during the day please find me when you arrive and I will probably have something for you to do. If you would like to help with clean-up we will be needing help with putting away tables, packing up/taking down decorations, clean-up, etc. The more volunteers we have for clean-up, the quicker everything will be done.
See you there!
Morgan
P.S. This will be my final event as LC. I have come to the decision that I will no longer be involved with Calgary Pagan Pride Day as LC. I would like to discuss with anyone interested in continuing CPPD in the Community either as LC or who is willing to participate as a Board member in the foundation of a Society. Please find me at the event and I can provide you with further information, or discuss further details with you.
